International adventure and commercial photographer Sverre Hjørnevik based in Norway.

This chapter began on the rugged, picturesque west coast of Norway, in a little town named Voss. Picture this: a village nestled among towering, snow-kissed peaks, forests, lakes, and wild rivers - the perfect backdrop for adventure. It's no surprise Voss became a breeding ground for adrenaline sports like skiing, water sports, skydiving, base-jumping and paragliding, nurturing world-class athletes. Among these spirited souls, I found my calling, embracing the wilderness, sports, and the bonds of friendship and family as my life's playground.

Photography seized my heart at 14, thanks to the spellbinding beauty of my hometown and the wild creatures that roamed it, influenced by local nature photographers. Yet, it never dawned on me to turn this fervent hobby into a career. Instead, I ventured into law enforcement, studying at the Norwegian University of Police. But the lens never left my side, a constant companion capturing moments of sheer beauty and thrill.

A decade in, with the winds of change blowing and a new family member on the horizon, I chose to pivot. In 2011, I hung up my badge and embraced the world through my camera full-time, already having built a portfolio of commercial work since 2005.

My passion lies in the grandeur of landscapes, the dynamic interplay of humans and nature, and the raw beauty of life. From capturing local kids playing in the snow to the world’s elite athletes in action, from the unveiling of sleek cars to the simple, breathtaking sunsets, my camera and I have seen a lot. Photography, to me, is an expression of the story behind the shot.

Traveling for assignments has opened the world to me, bringing new landscapes, faces, and stories into my lens’ focus. For those who wish to explore more about my work or collaborate on future projects, feel free to reach out.

Lost lift: A farewell to Oppheimsheisen - gone too soon

This collection is a homage to Oppheimsheisen, an integral part of my skiing childhood and a vital asset to a local community, which was taken from us too soon. Alongside my wife and Torkel Karoliussen, we returned to capture the essence of what should not have been its final days. The photographs stands as a statement against its untimely closure, celebrating the spirit and the shared moments that this lift fostered. Through my lens, we document not just a farewell but the importance of preserving such communal treasures. These images serve as a reminder of what was lost too soon.A lift that was more than just a means to ascend, but a pivotal part of our collective journey.

Explorer's Precision: Skillful deer hunting by the fjords

As I join in on the remarkable Norrona journey, into the heart of the Norwegian fjords. Where amongst others Børge Ousland, renowned polar explorer and former Norwegian Special Forces officer, showcases his skills in a different kind of exploration. This hunting trip took us deep into the land of deer, where outdoor clothing company Norrøna together with friend and ambassador Børge Ousland applied vast experience in outdoors exploring, gear and add precision to the art of deer hunting. I witnessed the fusion of explorer's instincts and hunter's expertise. Always honored when my friends at Norrøna let me be part of the journey.
