A roadtrip to remember
A roadtrip to remember

Don't underestimate the detour

A dream assignment. A photographer's dream. Imagine. You will be assigned to visit 25 unique places in Norway. Not the normal attractions, but the detours. The places you find outside the tourist radar. The place you'd rather visit. The place you came to by chance.

Are you living under a rock? I might make an exception and move in if this is the place. The farm under Helleren aka rock in the Jøssingfjorden has fascinated visitors for centuries.

The whole world wants to come to Lofoten, and you understand that. There is such an abundance of salty nature and everywhere you turn there are Instagram subjects; craggy peaks, coral white beaches, there are green buoys with furry sheep, there are brightly colored houses, there are moors, marshes, moors, heather, there are red churches, ror bows, fishing sheds, galleries, campsites, cafes, hotels, petrol stations, and between all this – sea. The main road through Lofoten is only 230 kilometers long, but then there are all the detours both here and there, and at the end of all these lies a village that can boast one or another attraction; a dried fish museum, a viewpoint, a gallery, a war memorial, a beach... But we keep a steady course on the E10, and drive straight to Reine.

Tindevegen/Peaksroad is the result of power development. The norwegian "Fortun-Grandfasta" electricity development was a very controversial project. Should one really allow power development so close to Jotunheimen moutain area and national park? Old building made a nice photo.
